Recover lost document

Wednesday, October 26th, 2022

I’m not sure if this is an issue you can help with but a friend told me to inquire. I lost all the work I had done on a Word document on my laptop (MacBook Air) for the entire month of September. The document was saving properly and opened and closed countless times within that period, then I didn’t open it for a week and went to reopen and it said the last time it had been modified was the 31st August and it went back to that save (my computer seems to be saying I haven’t done anything on word on any document for the entire month). For more context, I cannot browse the version history, I cannot open a recovered version in the Word app, my temporary items folder is empty, and there is one Auto Recovery document from the 9th September, but I cannot open it (and it would still be missing a significant amount of work). The document was saved to my iCloud, and was never on my one drive because it was created on a different device. I’ve done every troubleshooting suggestion and contacted every relevant customer service and I cannot find any way to recover it, is there a chance it would be on my hard drive? (I know very little about how computers work, sorry for the influx of information, just a last attempt to recover a month of my work).

Crypto Wallet Recovery

Recover My Crypto Wallet provide worldwide crypto wallet recovery services.

I’m hoping you can help me, I need to recover a crypto wallet, and if that’s not possible I wonder if recovering the crypto wallet passwords is possible? I had the wallet stored on my computer and the passwords were saved automatically. After a system update I was asked to type in my crypto wallet password again but I couldn’t remember the password. It’s a Bitcoin wallet and I had about 30 Bitcoins in there, so as you can understand, I’m very keen to see if you can recover this crypto wallet for me. The more data you can recover the better.

Crypto Recovery Service

I also have an iphone SE 1st gen. i did diy battery replacement and unplugged a wrong connection. despite refixing that, on reassembling i got the screen showing flashing apple logo. some internet advice has got me to the screen showing restore page. Unfortunately I can’t access my phone any longer and my crypto wallet app in on the phone. I therefore require a crypto recovery service – is this something you do? I don’t want to restore the phone as i know it will delete all data. my data (including my Bitcoin crypto wallet) was not backed up to icloud before this battery change, and there are also photos and voice message i need to try to get back. i have photo of the connection i unplugged and present restore screen display.

I’m not that concerned about the hard drive or the phone but I really need both crypto wallets recovered as they hold a lot of Bitcoin and are very valuable.

In this post we look at data recovery services provided by Data Clinic Ltd in Bristol. The company have 20 years data recovery experience from hard drives and mobile phones and are located at the Castlemead centre in the centre of Bristol

Hard Drive Recovery in Bristol

Portable hard drive will no longer switch on. I have checked the connections for dirt and tried out a new power cable but there is still no response when I use the on switch. There were no noises (clicking etc.) before this sudden failure which seems to suggest a power problem rather than the disk itself, but obviously I have not opened the drive to find out. I live in Bath and work in Bristol so can I call in to get my data recovered at Data Clinic Bristol?

Phone Data Recovery in Bristol

I have a huwaei 2o mate pro with a damaged screen & motherboard.
I Just want to retrieve contacts & photos, Is this something you can help with? I’m in Portishead, just outside Bristol and wonder if I could call into your Bristol data recovery lab in Castlemead?

Hard Drive recovery Bristol

My external WD 2T Passport has recently stopped connecting to my laptop, showing as ‘not mounted’ under the disk utility on my MacBook. It’s a portable hard drive.
I’ve tried the first aid check which just gives an error message and and EaseUS deep scan with no luck. It had been connecting less well before – needing to be held in a certain position or the laptop turned on and off. I’ve also tried a different cable so my thoughts are it’s either a hardware issue with the connection inside the hard drive or some sort of corruption.
Do you think this is something you would be able to recover and what would the cost be?

Seagate data recovery in Bristol

My Seagate external harddrive has stopped working. It is recognised as an unknown device by the computer but can not access the files. I know you are located at Castlemead in Bristol and an IT technician at work has used his limited software to attempt data recovery but not had much success. Would appreciate a call/email to hear how much your service might cost and if you think it is possible to retrieve the data.

Seagate Data Recovery Manchester

Friday, June 28th, 2019

Recently my PC started running slow so I thought I would get more RAM (from 8Gb to 16Gb).
This didn’t really solve the issue.
Last week my PC was file transferring and came up with an error basically saving the destination drive wasn’t there.
This was my internal data drive (Seagate 1Tb Barracuda ST1000DM003) and I am in Manchester
With the drive still connected to the motherboard the system takes a good 10mins to get to desktop.
When it is removed my PC boot up in less than a minute.
2/10 times it can be seen as local drive G but cannot be accessed. I managed to see it in the management window as a RAW format drive (was NTFS).
I have had no luck with data recovery software as the drive is never seen/found.

manchesterI knocked my Seagate ST1000DM003 expansion over from upright to horizontal and it was on carpet so I cant understand why it has stopped working but it has. It’s not showing under file explorer but it shows under device manager with now yellow triangle. The computer is in Manchester and I am in Bury, is there a hard drive recovery clinic locally?

Why is bad sector/track remapping a limited process consuming a pool of spare sectors/tracks?
Why doesn’t the firmware/ software start to use the storage area on the disk to remap at the expense of file data lost? ie. let the linked lists grow until no useful free storage area is available, so, the disk capacity reduces over time. As the lists grow they can be extended to free areas on the disc. My Seagate Drive was dropped and now making clicking sound of death.
This is a Toshiba 1TB, external hard drive, few years old now.
Interested to know costs of fixing, potential success rate and how this is collected from me (live in Stockport, Greater Manchester) and how data is returned if successfully retrieved?

The USB jack has come off the main Seagate USB circuit; the pins on the jack have removed the copper from the circuit track, so makes it difficult to reconnect the USB jack. I am an apprentice who has a large sum of work documents on that USB stick, that I could really do with retrieving. I just wonder if this is a problem that you are aware of and can repair. Or whether you can retrieve the data? And how much it would cost?

Hard drive reports as ‘not initialised’, Birmingham data recovery

Friday, April 26th, 2019

I live in Birmingham and have a WD Passport made in 2007. I’m looking for a data recovery company local to Birmingham.
It does not show in my computer.
The drive is recognised by windows device manager but shows as ‘not initialised‘.
It is not recognised in partition software such as MiniTool and EaseUS.
Mechanically it seems fine; the light is on, it seems to be humming.

Whilst using my Seagate portable hard drive it began to make a ‘clicking’ sound. On trying to save my document the drive was no longer visible on ‘my pc’. Our IT team have looked at it but are unable to retrieve any data using their limited resources. They tell me that the hard drive is not initialising. I would be grateful if you could let me know if this is something you could help with. I am in Birmingham and looking to have the data on the hard drive forensically examined – I require the data to be investigated.

Above: Map location for Data Clinic Birmingham, data recovery company.

How much it cost to recover data from an Apple disk drive which crashed and no longer initialises? It’s mainly data or word files?

Western digital external hard drive not initialised.
Plugged it in, files started disappearing in front of my eyes…..
Could I get a ball park quote of how much recovery may cost?

I dropped my 2TB slim seagate external hard drive from about 1m onto wooden floor.
It now won’t connect or read and it makes a clicking sound.
The data is highly important to me, so obviously I need the data and files recovering.

A Samsung M3 600gb external hard drive that makes a few beeps when is connected, stops and then doesn’t seem to be spinning. I’m looking for a data recovery service in Birmingham.

PC at work and school not reading portable drive…light not coming on. IT technician in Birmingham at school says it is ‘dead’. Can anything be retrieved. 7 years of school work on it.

I have Samsung HD103SI 3.5″ HDD with dead head and I would like to know how much would it cost to get that head replaced with working one

Hardrive beeps and sounds like it is struggling to spin and initialise when plugged into laptop – also not recognised mounting on any laptop or larger macs – have tried multiple leads etc

Hard drive not mounting in disk utility

Tuesday, March 5th, 2019

Hard drive will not mount in disc utility, (mac) disc utility will not repair the disc and has advised formatting. due to the fairly old and cheap nature of the hard drive im not sure wether its damage to the internal bits or the usb interface/cable etc. Ive ordered a new hard drive and any data recovered from the old drive can be put on the new one. When is the best time to bring in the drives to be sorted out?

disk utility (wd) macI have a Seagate External Hard drive (500GB, S/N: 2GHKB6S6 and P/N: 9SF2A2-500) which I dropped onto the floor now the hard drive won’t show up on disk utility on my Mac. Currently it is not registering when inserting it into the computer. The Hard Drive contains pictures which I would like to recover.
I have already sent it to KrollOntrack who were unable to recover any data. When returning the hard drive, KrollOntrack sent me the following information:
We have now completed the recovery attempt on your Hard Drive. Although we spent a long time trying to bypass the failures that had occurred, unfortunately this time we were unable to recover any data from the drive, thus the drive has been deemed unrecoverable by our engineers. The Hard Drive was suffering from Internal Mechanical Failure (problems with the internal mechanical components) and Severe Physical Media Damage (physical damage to the platters where data is stored) and although trying exhaustive techniques to bypass this, we have not been successful.
I understand some companies have different techniques to recover data, so please let me know if you think you will have better luck recovering the data?

Cyclic Redundancy Check – London
I have a 1TB western digital passport portable hard drive. I was adding some files to the hard drive when all of a sudden it stopped copying and said ‘data cyclic error redundancy check‘. I cannot access any of the files as it is not being read. I am abroad at the moment. I will be flying in to London on the 19th of January and leaving again on 2nd February. What will the cost of data recovery be and can it be done in the time period allocated.

Seagate and Lenovo Data Recovery in London

Monday, March 26th, 2018

Here are some of the latest data recovery enquiries from owners of Seagate, WD and Lenovo hard drive users in London, England. Look at the entire 24hourcomputerrepairs blog for details on sourcing a data recovery service in London.

Seagate hard drive for data recoveryMy Seagate free agent Goflex drive fell damaging its power unit (the power unit is plugged to wall socket). The drive no longer powers up and I am unable to access my data. Are you able to recover data as I have tried private shop in London.

I have a tempremental Seagate Home share 3TB network hard drive that is intermitantly failing. It lets me access it now and then but most of the time its unavailable. There are many docs and photo’s on there I would like to recover and wondered if you could do it and what it might cost?

Ticking WD2500 hard drive
I have a WD2500 (WD Cavier SE16 – WD P/N WD2500KS – 00MJB0) internal hard drive.
The drive had been clicking recently as it spins down to go into standby mode or when the computer is shutdown.
Now the discs spins up on computer boot, clicks rapidly then spins down, the drive no longer mounts and is not visible on the computer.
Is it possible to repair the drive to allow me to access / retrieve the data?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Firmware Updates
Model ST3150034aAS
This model needs to run on updated firmware – so please make sure yours is up to date
No longer recognised when installed or when connected by USB adaptor.
When powered up, there is a low regular tone.

My samsung evo 840 msata 1tb suddenly became undetectable by my laptop. The bios reports not detected hdd. Is there any chance of recovery and if so at what cost?

I’ve got a Lenovo, windows 10, SSD memory and I can not login, I get the error messages “service centre fail, user profile can not loaded”
I want at least , in worst situation, to safe the data from it.
Can you do that?

Examples of mechanically damaged hard drives

Saturday, February 10th, 2018

There are many faults that can befall a hard drive. One of the most common is a mechanical failure. These are most often caused by that hard drive falling and landing on something firm like a floor. This impact damages the heads of the hard drive and if the files and folders on the hard drive are valuable then you’ll have to consult a data recovery company (like Data Recovery Tips), or a country wide hard drive recovery specialist like Data Clinic Ltd to get them off. Why? Because a mechanical fault damages components inside the hard drive that need to be replaced in order to access the data again.

A damaged hard drive

  • I have a Verbatim external hard drive which stopped working today whilst I was in the process of organising some of the folders on it. When I connect it to my laptop, it beeps for a few seconds (this then stops), but it does not register with the laptop. I have tried a new USB lead and have tried to connect it to a desktop but the issue remains the same. I have a great deal of personal photos of my child, and documents which I need for my job as a teacher.
  • Seagate Expansion Portable Drive SRD0NF1 fell off table and hung down without hitting the floor. Since this the hard drive will no longer connect. When inserting USB into Macbook it just produces a consistent beeping sound, with around 1 second in between each beep. At first the blue light was on constantly and not flashing, but then after a while this no longer appears at all and just has the beeping sound.
  • I have a Transcend 1TB Hard Drive (TS1TSJ25D2). When I try to connect the hard drive to my laptop, the blue light on the hard drive comes on but my PC doesn’t recognise the hard drive. The hard drive also make a strange sound, like the drive spinning inside. Please can you advise on possible reasons for this and recommended course of action to access the data on my hard drive.
  • My hard drive stopped working. When connected to the laptop there’s a sound like a bip coming from it but it is not recognised by the computer. Needed to recover some of the files on it.

To summarise, the 4 examples are all mechanically damaged hard drives that will need the attentions of a hard drive data recovery specialist to retrieve the files. Look through some other posts on this site to find some more recommendations.

Need data from Kazam, Moto G, Blackberry and iPhones

Thursday, January 25th, 2018

Recently we’ve received a large number of phone data recovery enquiries, some are reproduced below. Phone recovery can be a tricky thing, sometimes a factory reset will destroy any chance of recovering the data, but some experts like http://phone-recovery.pen.io/ can in some cases still rescue your information:

I would like a rough price for file recovery for a Samsung S3 which has suffered memory chip failure.

Model: android kazam tornado 348
Problem: camera roll has been deleted and can’t find a way to restore them. Did not physically delete them but they have been lost.

Kazam 348

I have an old, broken mobile phone that I would like to get data off, of most importance being any photos. Its a 2013 Moto G 4G mobile, 8GB Model XT1072. It got damaged two years ago when it was dropped while walking outside. The screem is very cracked with some glass chipping off altogether and to make matter worse the phone landed in water. I havent been able to switch it on ever since. When connected to any power source, the power light and screen switches on / off intermittently. There was no micro SD card, just the phone memory and SIM. I expect there is 200-300 photos on the phone which I would greaty appreciate back. Please feel free to give me a call further – after 10am – to discuss if this is something you could help with. If so, I live in London so could drop it off to your offices.

i have an iphone 6 who is stuck in recovery mode due to it having insufficient storage. whne i try turning on the phone it is the apple logo freezes on the screen an nothing happens. i have tried to install the new update for the iphone through itunes but it always fails the only solution is for me to restore my iphone which i do not wish to do as it will erase all my data and i do not want that to happen

I’d like to recover the data from my Google pixel phone, in particular my photos. The phone has been through the washing machine and having replaced some of the internals with new I can’t get it to charge or be recognised by my PC.
