Data recovery using Easeus software

Tuesday, February 5th, 2019

I have a Seagate, 2 terabytes hard drive. I am a photographer. I was designing an album when the software i was using suddenly stopped reading files from the hard drive. The hard drive only shows up in ‘disk management’ as unallocated, non initialized. I have tried several options using Easeus recovery software. The problem however isn’t solved. I think it might be a hardware issue.
The hard drive had two partitions before the it failed.

Easeus data recoveryWe have already sent this drive off a couple of times before and I was given an explanation from the previous company which is:
The diagnostics suggest the drive has damaged heads.
There is no way for me to be 100% certain on what has been attempted before arriving with us but based on the fact the drive has clearly been opened (a cut made around the screw on the top lid) and the silver sticker has been moved from the headstack screw underneath I would make a fair guess that someone has already attempted to replace the heads. This is just a guess though based on the state of the drive when it arrived.
Is there anything that you can do in regards to this issue. You are our last and best option.
Is there anything i can do?

1tb Western Digital Green Drive. Stopped working, Tried all i can, opened it up carefully and cleaned contacts on PCB, no joy. The HDD contains mainly photos etc that i’d really like to get back if at all possible.

Western Digital My Passport PN/ WDBACX0010BBK-00
My hard drive seems to be spinning but an occasional noise is apparent. My PC makes the noise as if connected, but it doesn’t appear in My PC folder. Easeus software can’t detect it.

My laptop no longer boots up, and recovery options fail to work, so I am interested in finding if it is possible to recover files from the hard drive although this may be not working. I am mainly interested in photos but some other documents too. Are you able to give me an idea of how much this is likely to cost? In what format do you return the information?

I have a seagate m3 portable 1tb and after backing up some photos and videos on it today, it has stopped responding to the usb on my computer, it is making a slight beepping sound when removed and replugged into the port. i would just like to recover my data please email me only.

My pc has stopped working recently and I would like to recover some files from my hard drive.

Birmingham / Worcester Hard Drive Recoveries

Monday, January 7th, 2019

There’s a fairly good amount of hard drive recovery work available in the West Midlands. Covering the areas of Birmingham, Worcestershire and Tamworth, the call for data and file recovery services can be quite high.
The Arena is located right in the centre of Birmingham close to Broad Street and many businesses and I recently had an enquiry that went like this:

Broad Street BirminghamI have a WD passport and it will not connect to the laptop and will not recognise the hard drive as a USB. It just keeps whirring and beeping. I have looked online and tried to resolve myself but cant.
I think it is completely bust and I need to recover the data on the hard drive please. If you could send me a quote it would be much appreciated.
I live in Worcester so not far away from your Birmingham office.

I have a WD 2TB hdd whose controller is not working to the best of my knowledge.
The drive and the engine spins up perfectly although there is no recognition on the computer that it is connected.
Do you swap controllers ? please note that, it is also needed to replace the rom bios chip on the controller.
I’ll provide further information if requested – I’ve live near Tamworth, West Midlands but work on Broad Street in Birmingham.

My External WD 1T HDD is not working due to mechanical issue. It gives beep sound once connected and last for 30 second before the power down. It’s a personal HDD and I will like to know the price of recovery. Also, is it possible to drop it to one of your office as I don’t trust post.

Drive has started making knocking noise. iOmega drive with Seagate internal disk. Doesn’t appear in Windows explorer anymore, appears in Disk Manager as uninitialized. Full 1TB drive looking for recovery possibilities

Nottingham data recovery
WD MYCloud 4TB NAS knocked onto the floor. Now will not connect is making clicking sound. Unable to access any data.

I have mac book pro15, and I have deleted my hole system. So that there is no boot options and I have lost my valuable files in the hard drive.
I was trying to install Ubuntu system on an external hardesk, so when I reached where I have to install my system I have by mistake chosen the mac hard drive so that every thing are erase.

I was filming an event in Nottingham a few weeks back and I dropped my external 6TB drive. There is a lot of data on this drive I haven’t backed up and am in need of getting it back. I took it to Knowhow and they couldn’t fix it by plugin they recommend getting the disks taken out the drive and retrieving it that way. I want to shop around to see what’s available because theirs costs £350 and I don’t know if that’s a good price or not. Is this something you do? If so how much would it cost? The drive is a Seagate 6tb Barracuda.

Laptop Viao PSG won’t boot up, and i want to recover the files from it.

Deleted some text messages watts app from my Samsung galaxy while ago it’s important I retrieve them from one specific number can you help. Do you have a shop in Nottingham where I can get the data recovered?

2 Sundays ago my laptop fell off a table and wouldn’t switch on again. I had a plan with team know how in PC World who said that they would be able to recover my data and fix the hard drive. They replaced the hard drive but then told me that data recovery was unsuccessful. I’m currently waiting for my hard drive to be returned to me.
The error message which appeared on my computer originally was “default boot device missing or boot failed. Insert recovery media and hit any key. Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media.”. Do you think it’s possible to recover the data and if so how much would it cost?

I work at Nottingham University and have had a 64GB USB for less than a month and it has suddenly stopped working. It hasn’t been dropped, knocked or got wet. The light has stopped working overnight and doesn’t seem to be getting any power and I have tried it in three different laptops in all of the USB ports and none of them detect it. I have over 30GB’s of important information/ uni work/ photos that I would like to retrieve and was wondering if I could be sent an estimate and whether you think it may be retrievable?
The USB is a university one, so unfortunately I do not know the make.

Computer will not see my wd passport 500 gb,tried other computers as well, same issue, potentially it might hit be spinning as well, but I need to recover at least photos and videos from it.

Hard Drive and Moto G Phone Recovery

Thursday, May 31st, 2018

Toshiba Satellite Pro C850–1HD
Can’t F2 or F8 laptop on startup. Get windows login, then circle of dots, then blank screen. Windows 7 operating system total failure. Hence need to recover hard disc data. It appears that the input on my Seagate hard drive has melted, and the machine is unable to read the disk. Any chance of recovery?

moto g phoneAlso my WD My Passport has stopped working and it makes approximately three beeping noises and then it doesn’t show up for me to gain access to any of the folders and files. It shows a message’ device descriptor failed request’ and I would like to get it fixed It’s a 1tb external hard drive is not recognised by computer. Suspected hardware failure – clicking noise. Believe drive was dropped. Please can you provide estimate for recovery please – photos and videos.

I have a transcend 2TB external drive which has a broken arm and needs the plattens removed and installed in a replacement to extract the data. We have managed to get 8GB from it but it has in excess of 750GB.

Moto G Phone Recovery
My mum’s Moto G phone has water damage, it still shows some signs of life but is essentially unusable and won’t maintain connection if plugged into a pc.
We want to try and recover all her photos and numbers stored on the phone.

In a previous post I provided a very useful link for data recovery services on Moto G mobile phones – you can find it here: http://24hourcomputerrepairs.com/datarecovery-kazam-curve-motog/.

Important research data needed in Newcastle

Friday, May 4th, 2018

As a post graduate at Newcastle University my Seagate Hard drive fell on the floor.
When powered the drive clicks and spins down.
My organisation Computer Service in Newcastle has opened the drive within clean lab for internal examination.
Diagnosis is that failing read/write heads prevents access to data
There is possible damage on media surface area causing mechanical and logical read/write operation to fail.
Partition tables unreadable due to read/write failure.
My organisation CSD could not access to data due to damaged read/write head and has not capacity to repair.
The hard drive is not full (approx. half of total capacity is occupied).
It contains very important research data (not backed up).

newcastle

I dropped my Seagate hard drive and it can no longer be recognised when plugged into my laptop or desktop computer. The blue light is still flashing but the hard drive is now making a continuous ‘beeping’ noise. I believe that the needle is jammed and does not allow the disk to spin anymore.

82 gb IBM 3.5 PATA internal drive that is not recognised when i use a caddy pata / sata adaptor on my pnew pc. It feels like its spinnging up but it is not recognised in storage management or seen in my computer. I would like a quote to know how much to recover the 3 folders of data on this drive. I live in Jesmond, just outside Newcastle.

My 2011 MacBook Pro 17” hard drive failed. Also the motherboard died. The local Apple store said the motherboard can’t be fixed. But also they can not recover the data on the hard drive. I’m not an expert here, but apparently the needle has flipped up to prevent damage to actual hard drive disk.
So I have the hard drive removed but he can not recover the data, and recommend to contact a data recovery service.

I have two external hard drives. One is broken and makes a rattling sound. (brand:integral). The other comes on with a light but does not connect to my laptop. (brand:Toshiba). I was just wondering whether you are able to retrieve the photos and documents etc from them and if so how much that would cost.

My laptop was smashed and my harddisk got bent and as a result I can’t access my files, please may I know if it can be fix there in the UK, I can send the drive via DHL or come down my self to the UK thanks. I work for Newcastle Sciences.

Lost text messages on HTC and Galaxy

Sunday, April 8th, 2018

What are the most valuable items of data on a mobile phone? For the owners of HTC M8 and Samsung Galaxy S7 phones, the answer seems to be lost text messages. Here are two examples:

recovering deleted and lost text messagesAbout 3 weeks ago I lost some text messages from my mobile phone (HTC M8). I don’t recall deleting it, perhaps I did without knowing. I never backup my data. I’m only interested in lost data of one contact that’s all.
Please let me know if you able to help?
I live close to Data Clinic’s Lombard St centre in London I’m happy to take there if someone wants to have a look at my device. I also have the data stored on a broken hard drive so I’ll bring that in too and hopefully you can get the data off of it.

I have got an old, broken galaxy s7 edge that has some photos and text messages on it that I would really like to retrieve, problem is that the phone is bricked, the screen is broken, the battery is dead (as in not chargeable dead), the charging/data port is broken, the list goes on. I’m just hoping to get my old photos back, and would like a quote if thats okay. Just a heads up, I probably won’t be able to answer a call back in business hours just due to my job (having seen the button that says request call back) so if you could pop me an email to the address provided instead, that would be brilliant.

When attempting to retrieve text messages from phone’s the still turn on the best way forward is to try a software extraction process. This can be done by downloading some software from the internet that will do the job for you. However, if your phone no longer turns on then you’ll need to get the assistance of a phone data recovery company to help you. These companies are able to read the text message data from the memory chips on your phone, even if it no longer switches on.

Often in legal cases it’s necessary to extract messages and data from phone where those messages have been lost or deleted, a data recovery company who are also experts in extracting text messages (whether deleted or not) are Data Clinic – you can read their phone data recovery services page here 1 and their phone data extraction (investigative forensics services) page here 2.

Buffalo NAS data recovery – Kensington and Chelsea
My Buffalo NAS LinkStation Duo 2TB (LS-WX2.0TL/R1) has a damaged RAID 0 array and has become inaccessable and corrupted. A local IT technician (I am located in Kensington and Chelsea in London), but will have someone personally courier the NAS to London in January) has examined it and says one of the hard drives has become damaged/inoperable, with the RAID 0 now being corrupted. What is the likely cost of recovering the data from the corrupted drive and RAID 0 array? It didn’t receive the best of reviews (http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/storage/nas-drives/50554/buffalo-linkstation-pro-duo-2tb-review) but I still need to get the files off of the device.

WD Support for file recovery for Chesterfield and Sheffield
My external hard drive died yesterday. My laptop no longer recognises it when I plug it in, i.e. nothing happens. The light on the device does come on though. The device is a WD My Passport (P/N: wdbbep0010bbk-01). I only need a couple of files recovering so if it’s not too expensive it’ll save me having to recreate them. I’m not concerned about repairing the device I barely use it. I’d be grateful if you could let me know how much it would cost to recover the files. I only live down the road (in Chesterfield, so I’m not that far from the hard drive recovery centre in Sheffield), so if you would like me to pop in with the device that’s not a problem.

My WD Passport ultra was dropped at a work event. Just over a week later I plugged it into my mac to ensure the data was still there, it was, but only when trying to eject did I find problems. I originally had a partition on my drive with one part holding multiple folders with files and the other part holding an entire backup of my mac. Upon trying to eject the partition holding the multiple folders, a message on my mac indicated that it couldn’t be disconnected. I tried to use task manager to quit and eject but it didn’t work that way, so I shut down my mac and removed the drive when everything had stopped running. Now when I connect my drive back to my mac the partition with the multiple folders doesn’t show up but the part with the back up does, it appears that I have lost half of my data with the partition. Is it possible to rectify this problem by any chance? I live in London.

Seagate drive has scratch
I have opened the seagate 2tb expansion external hard drive and I have seen a scratch on the disk in a circle, as it seems the pointer has been lowered down and is scratching the disk when turned on. Computer makes the noise when it has detected something externally has been plugged in, but will not pop up with the data.
It has video content/footage on there. Once a hard drive has a scratch on the surface it usually can not be recovered. Don’t waste your money on a data recovery service.

Backup hard drive error
Backup hard drive not working, I used my passport in morning and again when I tried to use in evening I can’t access any data …
When I unlock my Western Digital (WD) Passport with password I can’t see it getting detected. I want the data back. The hard drive I have was voted one of the best, but it wasn’t very good for me.

Need Data File Recovered

Tuesday, November 28th, 2017

I have a WD Passport for Mac, which i use to store my photos and music on. The Mac broke and i had to run disk utility in order to recover the data. I took the mac to Apple and they installed a new OS, and new Photos programme.
The files on the drive are now just showing greyed out, and the disk says there’s only 53kb of data in the photos folder. When i try to import them to the new photos, it says the file isn’t recognised.

Data Clinic data recovery staff

Similarly, my Hitatchi 4TB external windows HDD from 2012. Just stopped working one day, now makes a series of small clicks after being powered up. Displays as unformatted drive in Drive Manager.

I was referred to Data Clinic by my colleague at the firm I am working at in Glasgow. I am getting in touch to inquire about unlocking / recovering a WD Ultra Passport that I locked with a ATA password and cannot remember the password to. The drive is currently in locked state and I have not formatted it. I am willing to provide any information that would hail me as the owner of this drive if required.

When my external hard drive is plugged into a computer, the light goes blue as meant to.
However the drive doesn’t get listed on the file explorer, but it is recognised by the device manger.
It makes a very weird repeated buzzing noise when first plugged in that stops exactly after 10 seconds. The drive doesn’t show up and I need my files recovered.

I have sent in a 500GB SATA internal hard drive to Data Clinic in Glasgow branch that I have requested data recovery, along with a 1GB SSD drive to be used for the data transfer. I would like confirmation that Data Clinic have my drives and that they are in Data Clinic’c Manchester data recovery centre.

My Seagate Backup Plus external drive has failed. It makes a ticking noise when first plugged in and it is not discoverable so I can’t access any of my data.

Need data from hard drive and tape

Saturday, November 18th, 2017

I’ve had several hard drives and old backup tapes fail recently – I’ve documented the details of the problems below.

Hard drives failed
Windows booted and gave me a disk read error, tried to repair using windows 10 recovery image via usb which failed. Installed a new copy of windows 10 on another hard drive and ran chkdsk /r on the faulty HD. In the windows explorer menu for my computer I see the file is 0 bytes (it’s a 1tb hard drive) chkdsk has been running for 3 days with an ETA of 150hours. Kind of am giving up hope need data recovered…

We plugged in the HDD on the wrong voltage setting and now it won’t work.

many hard drives

I have had my IOMEGA external hard drive for 8 years. I recently tried to plug it in and it says the hard drive must be formatted.

2TB LaCie External Disk Drive not being properly recognised by operating system when plugged in via USB, despite trying with multiple laptops (Windows and Mac). I carefully removed the Seagate drive from its LaCie enclosure and placed in a PC but the BIOS would not detect it. To my knowledge, the drive has not been subjected to any shocks or drops. However, it does make a faint beep noise when plugged in (be it via SATA or USB enclosure).

The hard drive is ticking regularly, when I try to open it, I receive an IO error. It is an ext4, old external 500Gb, w/ approximatelly 100Gb of Data

I dropped my 2TB Seagate back up harddrive, and now it isn’t being recognized by my computer. It makes a beeping noise and a clicking noise.

Seagate freeAgent external hard drive is being recognised by my Mac but running so slowly that I cannot transfer files over (recently got new laptop and wanted to transfer music and photos)
E.g. it takes around an hour to open a folder and I tried to transfer one folder of photos from external hard drive to laptop and this failed after 48 hours.

Need data back from tape
The external hard drive has been dropped and now no longer is picked up by computer. Its first spins and then after 15 seconds it makes two clicks and stops spinning.

I have three backup tapes from 1990. They are 3M: two DC 600A and one DC 300 XL/P. They are undamaged, so I guess that if you have an appropriate tape drive and can read the byte order, they should be easy.

We have an issue with a number of tapes that are either corrupted or physically damaged (snapped). These are DDS3 and DDS4 tapes. Are you able to give a high level indication of cost for recovery per tape?

I have a DAT / DDS Retrospect backup that I need restored. Is this something you can do and if so what would it cost ( a single tape?)

Actions
I’m currently working on getting the data back from several of these devices – If you’d like me to help you recover the data from your hard drive or tape the price per recover is approximately £300 – £600 depending on the fault with the device. I’ll update readers of this blog with news in future posts.

Help recovering hard drive data

Saturday, July 8th, 2017

I have an external hard drive, which seems to be TURN ON for roughly 3 seconds and then TURNS OFF immediately (spins down), whilst making a beeping noise. Addtionally, during those 3 seconds the disk is spinning.
(Note: the heads were originally stuck but are now free. Also, the controller board seems to be a bit burnt, as some of the gold lines look discoloured).
Please can you advise me on this? Is there a possibility that the control board is causing this problem and just needs to be replaced?

CCTV unit for data recoveryAnswer: Hi – your hard drive has a head fault – it’s not a controller board problem. A beeping hard drive indicates that it has a mechanical problem. To retrieve the data from it requires the attentions of a good data recovery specialist. On this blog we recommend several data recovery companies – try http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/ for further assistance.

Deleted Partitions
160gb hdd win7 deleted 3 partitions for clean install of win7 only to be told later there was 2 folders in the root of C. I’ve ran a few recovery programs read only but cant find the partition

Answer: If the data you need recovering has been overwritten by the clean install then your data has been lost for good – there’s no point running a data recovery program on it – it’s gone for good.

Hard drive spins then shuts down very quickly.
Need a price and a ETA on doing this job.

I have a 32GB Lexar 1000x CF card used in a Canon camera – the card is corrupted and I can’t view or transfer the photographs (RAW files) I have tried a few free recovery software, but none have helped. When I try and read it on my PC, it says it needs to format the disk. Is this something you can help me with? And, if so, how much would it cost?

We have received ccTV hard drive back from the police after a break in but we are unable to retrieve the data from q3 April 17 to 17th April 17. We are looking to get this data onto a disc so we can view it and understand how the breaking was carried out

Answer: Search the dataclinic.co.uk site (mentioned above) and find the CCTV data recovery section. They should be able to help.
